Virginia Wilson Wise was born July 5th, 1939, in Warsaw, NY - died July 9th, 2026 in hospice care at home. She was preceded in death by her parents; Mildred Rix Wilson and James M. Wilson and her brother, James M Wilson, Jr. MD.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Haron W (Harry) Wise; her daughter, Michele Williams (Chris); her son, David Wise (Lucy); five grandchildren: James Reece, Elizabeth Reece (Matt), Hudson and Grey Wise and Van Taylor; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Martin and Deana Wilson; brother-in-law, Wayne (Ace) Wise and several nieces and nephews.
Ginna graduated from University of Buffalo (NY) School of Physical Therapy in 1961, and entered the U.S Air Force as a 2nd Lt. It was there that she met Harry as a patient and they were married August 24th, 1962. After Harry completed his college degree in 1964, Ginna resigned from her Air Force commission and began a career as a Staff Physical Therapist for various organizations, including hospitals, nursing homes, hospice and home care. She was also involved in the Arthritis Foundation as a consultant and advisor. Ginna lived life with joy, laughter and an open heart. She always enjoyed social occasions and was often the last to leave the party. A devoted wife, mother and proud grandmother, her greatest joy and happiness came from the family she loved so dearly. She was also very involved in her community, building lasting friendships and touching countless lives through her kindness, generosity and caring spirit. She so much enjoyed her membership in P.E.O. and was very devoted to each of her "sisters" in her chapter "AO".
A memorial service for Ginna will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church Rome with Pastor David Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at the Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the church from 10:00 AM until the service hour. For those who are unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed on this link: www.pirpteam.com/streams the day of the service.
The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to P.E.O. International, Chapter "AO" in honor of Mrs. Wise at www.peointernational.org. We will be forever grateful for the love, laughter and fond memories she shared. Though we will miss her dearly, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Salmon Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Virginia Wilson Wise.
