Wanda Pitts Cannon, age 76, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, in Rome, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 27, 1949, in LaGrange, Georgia, Wanda devoted her life to her family and her career, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Throughout her professional journey as an insurance agent, Wanda distinguished herself with her unwavering dedication and commitment to her clients. Her integrity and work ethic garnered the respect of her peers and the gratitude of those she served. However, beyond her career, she was most significantly known as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her caring nature and positive spirit resonated deeply with everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. She cherished quiet evenings watching Perry Mason, Matlock, Downton Abbey, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy, finding joy in the stories and bright moments they brought into her home. She loved traveling with her family, especially treasured trips with her sister Glenda, often sharing laughter during their adventures.
Wanda is survived by her two daughters, Katherine (Chip) Rogers of Rome and Wendy (Zohar) Edelkind of Rome. She found great joy in her role as a grandmother to her four grandchildren: Cannon Rogers, Mallory Rogers, Joseph Edelkind, and Lily Edelkind. Wanda's nurturing spirit extended to her siblings, including her brothers, Dennis Pitts and Virgil Pitts, and her sisters, Sandra Furgerson and Violet Ison. Her sister-in-law, Glenda Pitts, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends, also remain to cherish her memory.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lowe Pitts and Davidell Cummings Pitts; her brother, David Pitts and a brother-in-law, Joe Ison.
A memorial service is currently being planned, once the service details are finalized they will be announced here.
As family and friends remember Wanda Pitts Cannon, they will carry forward her dedication to family, her warmth, and her unfaltering support. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
