William 'Bill' Milton Toles, age 93, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 12, 2025, at his home in Rome, Georgia, following a short illness. 

Mr. Toles was born on March 15, 1932 in Rome, Georgia and was the cherished son of the late Milo A. Toles and Lucy Mae Toles. Bill was a proud graduate of Rome High School, class of 1949. He pursued further education at West Georgia College, where he laid the foundation for a fulfilling career. Shortly after college, he joined The Local Union of Plumbers and Pipefitters, showcasing a strong work ethic that would carry him throughout his life. In 1965, he accepted the position of Maintenance Director for Floyd County Schools, serving the educational community with dedication until his retirement in 1994.

Throughout his life, Bill was deeply involved in his community and church. A devoted member of West Rome Baptist Church for the majority of his life, he also attended Calvary Baptist Church for a few years. At West Rome Baptist, he participated actively in Sunday School, Wednesday Night Activities, and the Senior Choir. His commitment to service included a role as a Deacon and sharing his compassion by delivering Meals on Wheels alongside his beloved wife, Carolyn.  Additionally, Bill volunteered for the Floyd County Baptist Association, exemplifying his passion for helping others and sharing his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 

Bill had a zest for life that extended beyond his community involvement. He was an enthusiastic member of The Western Promenades after joining in 1978. Bill and his wife shared many unforgettable adventures as active members of the Gold Wing Road Riders and The Christian Motorcycle Association. Together, they traveled the length and breadth of the United States, visiting all 48 continental states and three Canadian provinces and even ventured all the way to Mexico on their beloved Honda Gold Wing. Their love of exploration continued beyond motorcycles, as they enjoyed cruising and embarked on 13 memorable cruises, creating lasting memories along the way.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Shaw Toles and nephews: Terry Toles and Ben Fricks. 

Bill is survived by his loving daughter, Lynn Toles Coker, and son, Ken (Debbie) Toles; his brother, Bobby (Vivian) Toles; granddaughters, Kristen Coker (Brian) Butera and Sharmon Copeland; four step-grandchildren; great-grandsons, Jared Butera and Collyn (Sara) Copeland; great-great-grandchildren, Carter and Avery Copeland; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. William 'Bill' Toles will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Eastview Cemetery with Pastor Micah Pritchett officiating. The family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM before processing to Eastview Cemetery for the graveside service.

Bill Toles will always be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and profound love for family, friends, and his community. His contributions to those around him and the lasting impact he made will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The Toles family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Pruitt Hospice and Bill's sitters (Robin Clark, Blessie Lanham and Lesia Cruz) for the care and compassion given during this incredibly difficult time. Pruitt Hospice and the sitter's made Bill's final days at home comfortable and they truly showed empathy, compassion and wonderful care. The Toles family are forever grateful. 

The family will graciously accept flowers or memorial donations to West Rome Baptist Church to help the Missions Team.
