William Eugene Davis

William Eugene Davis, known affectionately as Gene, age 73, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025. Gene was born on August 1, 1952, in Rome, Georgia.

Gene is survived by his son, Naaman Vanvelsor of Atlanta, Georgia: sisters, Susan Davis Thacker and Amy Davis Nation; brothers, Lamar Davis, Brian Davis and Dwayne Butler; aunt, Mildred Davis Walls; and a uncle, Melvin Davis. Gene also shared many special moments with his cousins, including Judy Mulkey, Nancy Rogers, Debbie Fowler, Sheila Fowler, Dennis Walls, Mike Walls, Jerry Walls, David Davis, Ronnie Davis, Diana Beckett, Bonnie Sims, Amanda Kane and Gloria Thacker.

Gene's life was enriched by the love and camaraderie he fostered with those around him. His family and friends will always remember his unwavering spirit and the joy he brought into their lives. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, William Davis and Carole Griggs Butler, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life.

A Memorial Service to honor his life will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Salmon Funeral Home, at 4:00 PM, with Reverend Kenneth Dowdy officiating. Gene’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 3:45 PM at Salmon Funeral Home.
