William Evan Wood

William Evan "Bill" Wood, age 49, of Rome, GA, died Tuesday evening, April 8, 2014, in a local hospital.

A native of Rome and Floyd County, Bill was born on April 11, 1964, the son of George and Judy Green Wood. He graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and was associated with Floyd College, North Metro Technical College and Roman.Net. Bill was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Hattiesburg, MS, and attended Rome Baptist Temple. He was a veteran of The United States Navy and loved music, playing the guitar and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by a brother, Brent Wood, on December 28, 1999.

Bill is survived by his parents, George and Judy Wood; a sister, Robin Wood (Freddie) Faith of Fairmont, GA; a niece, Charissa (Clint) Baker of Ranger, GA; a great-nephew, Silas Baker; a special aunt, Joy Bell of Cartersville, GA; a special cousin, Carmen (Bill) Knox and their daughter, Meredith, all of Cartersville.

Funeral services for Bill will be held on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. Billy Goolsby and Rev. Bob Wills officiating. Interment will follow in the Salmon Cemetery with the American Legion or Rockmart Post 12 Honor Guard conferring military graveside rites.

Bill will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence of his parents.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday by 1:30 p.m. and include Billy Joe Bramblett, Bobby Joe Bramblett, Freddie Faith, Bill Knox, Jamie Moore and Keith Metcalf.
